JUHI BANKS ON 'KRAZZY 4'

A former beauty queen and chirpy actress of Bollywood who has now turned super star and comedy queen is back with a bang with Rakesh Roshan's 'Krazzy 4'. She is none other than Juhi Chawla. This time she is starring along Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan, Rajpal Yadav and Suresh Menon in lead roles. Juhi plays a psychiatrist to the four patients. Her's is the main character in the movie of debutant director Jaideep Sen, who has been an assistant director for long. The movie is releasing coming Friday, April 11th. Her recent chat with the media turned out very informative about her forthcoming movie. Excerpts of the interview:

What's your role in 'Krazzy 4'?

I am the only responsible one in this 'Krazzy4' film! I play the psychiatrist and these four are my patients. I decide to take all four to a trip into the city and I somehow fall into a trap. And to everyone's surprise it is these so called mad people who actually have the sense to help me out of this trap. I have a small but pivotal role…in the sense the film revolves around me!

In which category does the movie fall?

It is a very sweet satire though it also teaches us a lesson while having fun.

What prompted you to sign this film?

I have always wanted to work with Rakeshji and Film Kraft and also I know the director Jaideep Sen since he had been an assistant director. He is very capable and I knew I would be in good hands…also I relished the opportunity of working with my four co-stars.

Did you feel sure that it would hit the box office?

Film Kraft is a very efficient, quality production house and you can always guarantee that your film will be the best quality in Rakeshji's hands!!

How did you find working with all the four actors?

It was a complete blast! They made me laugh so much that my mascara used to come running down sometimes! I had to beg them not to make me laugh and let me do my scenes…all four are quite special in their own way and we were quite a good team…. they took great care of me.

Don't you feel that you missed comedy movies in your first innings?

I had my share of lead roles and fun and I did everything I ever wanted to do. I don't miss much and I am always looking out quality roles, whether big or small…. not necessarily comedy or romantic.

What's your pastime after doing movies?

I have started to learn music so my free time goes in doing riyaaz! Apart form that my children, family, social events take up all my free time so that I am happily busy even when not working.

Which are your future movies?

Apart from 'Krazzy 4' I am also doing 'Bhootnath' and Aziz Mirza's 'Kismet Konnection'.

What are the movie's prospects?

I am confident that the movie will fare very well as all the members of the cast and the crew have given their best performance. Besides, Rakeshji and Sen are competent in their respective fields.

what they saying about JUHI CHAWLA

"I really like my track with Juhi. In our heyday, we
just did three films together. Juhi and I should've
done a lot more films together. We're really
compatible."-ANIL KAPOOR

"Juhi Chawla deserves the Best Supporting Actress
award for 03 for her role in 3 Deewarein because it
was a role that not only demanded an immensly power
packed performance but also required a deglamourised
look which Juhi Chawla was brave enough to carry off
in a Bollywood film." – RANI

"Juhi is a professional actress, who has worked in so
many films. So I got to learn a lot of things from
her. I like working with her. She has been in this
field even before me. She works on small nuances. I
personally feel she is a very good actress". MANOJ BAJPAL

"Juhi has added a lot of importance to this film(
KHAMOSHI ) and she too was the correct cast for this
role and she has a totally different and fresh
look…since I go back many years with Juhi it has been
a pleasant experience working with her once again".
DEEPAK TIJORI

"She's even sweeter. She is fantastic to work with.
She is one of my favourite co-stars" SANJAY SURI

"Juhi is an extremely talented actress. What else can
I say for her?" MANOJ BAJPAL

"Nobody can fit the role of the female protagonist
better than Juhi Chawla. The male protagonist will be
a newcomer". Tuhin A. Sinha's

"She is a friend, someone in the film industry who I
owe a lot to and will always remain that way. Juhi is
very special to me. One of the greatest experiences
that I have with Juhi and Aziz is that we shared our
ups and downs, our success and failure. We have
laughed a lot together and cried as well.
"I remember the first report of 'Darr' was not very
good and the movie was very important for me and Juhi.
We were worried. We were almost crying. Usually, there
are mixed reactions on the first day".-SHAH RUKH KHAN

Juhi Chawla is a very good actress, most of the time
she is better than me. If I'd done Darr, I'd have
played Shah Rukh's character more intensely and less
stylish.AAMIR KHAN

Have I forgiven Juhi? It's purely personal topic. And
I'm not comfortable discussing it in public. It's
between us. I have no professional problem with Juhi.
She's a brilliant actress. And if any good offers come
by, I will do them.AAMIR KHAN

"Juhi is my bestest friend, the love i feel for her is
something i can't describe
Juhi can tell me anything, I'll drop everything and
be there for her" SHAH RUKH KHAN

" I think how long an actress last is a very
individual thing.it 's about good planning. A lot of
people become insecure and sign films in a hurry and
they have a lot of bad film which ultimately affect
their careers. But see a madhuri or a Juhi Chawla. They
have lasted long because they have planned their
careers well". – MALLIKA SHERAWAT

SOME INTERVIEWS

If we valued female actors the way we do their male counterparts, there would surely be room in the top for Juhi Chawla. Her career spanning more than two decades may not have seen the meteoric rise (and the subsequent decline) like that of Madhuri Dixit or Sridevi, but if there is a word that epitomises her stay in the industry, it most definitely has to be `steady'. Radiant and content in her fourth decade, age seems to have bypassed this graceful actor. As she smilingly negotiated the probing and sometimes downright rude queries of the Kolkata print and electronic media at the promotional event of her latest release Bhoothnath at Fame this Tuesday, Chawla didn't betray even a hint of irritation. Sample this- Rude journalist:

"Where were you all these years, you haven't been in the limelight since Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak?"

Juhi Chawla: (Laughs) Where have you been?".
That's Juhi Chawla for you, she charmed a roomful of tactless journalists, and taught us a lesson in manners. And no she didn't have to wag those pretty fingers of hers'. And need we say that she likes to laugh — and she laughs often.

How was it working with Amitabh Bachchan in Bhoothnath?
It's amazing how he manages to nurse a passion for his craft even after all these years. I was always a big fan of his, and working with him again in this film was a delightful experience.

You are quite busy with the IPL nowadays aren't you?
Initially I had very little knowledge of the game. But slowly I have learnt a lot. Now I know what binds the team together. It's the will to excel.

What do you think are the Kolkata Knight Riders' chances in the tournament?
We will try our best, and sing korbo, lorbo, jitbo... (laughs)

How is it to co-own a team with Shah Rukh Khan?
Oh! he is a bundle of energy. Every morning he sends motivational text messages to us. It's hard to match his energy level. He is always there for the team, no matter how busy he is.

You have made a very graceful shift to character roles...
I can't keep dancing around the trees can I? I had to move on. I feel I get to do more interesting things now.

Would you say that this phase of your career is more liberating?
Yes it is. In these past few years I have got the opportunity to work with some really talented, young individuals, and I consider myself lucky for that.

You have worked with a number of first time directors, namely Onir (My Brother Nikhil), Sujoy Ghosh (Jhankaar Beats), Ganesh Acharya (Swami)...
When I was working in these films, people would ask me if I have gone crazy. But I trusted them implicitly and I can't say I have regretted my decisions.

You team up with your old friend Aziz Mirza (Yes Boss, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman) in the forthcoming Kismat Konnection ?
Aziz is like family. I have a small but delightful cameo in the film. I had a ball playing a gypsy fortune teller in the film. In the first day of the shoot I was totally clueless, because I had no refernce point for my character, but slowly I understood my charcter better.

Your husband, Jai Mehta, seems to be majorly into cricket too...
I sometimes wonder what is he doing here. He is an industrialist who specialises in cement (laughs).

How do you juggle family life with your career?
My kids are my priority, and I schedule everything elese around them. But I manage, though I tend to be dog tired all the time.

How was it sharing screen space with Shah Rukh again in Bhoothnath?
It was like we never stopped working together. We might not have worked together on screen for more than seven years now but we share a great rapport, and that obviously gets translated on screen.
